From beginner to BFA Binnen

If you want to learn to sail within one season and pass the BFA Binnen exam without any problems - then you've found the right package!

Course description

If you choose the All Inclusive Package, you can attend the basic course and the BFA-Binnen. After completing the basic course, you can also upgrade to the Plus variant.

Swimming skills
for the basic course: no previous knowledge necessary
for the BFA inland course: knowledge of a basic licence holder
for the BFA inland course: minimum age 13 years

Aim of the courses

For the basic course:
Independent operation of a boat, positive completion of the basic licence test; assessment of own skills;
For the BFA - Binnen:
Practical sailing skills:
sailing specified courses, tacking, jibing, buoy overboard, shooting up, mooring and casting off, correct sail position and sail trim, handling the boat, nautical knots,...
Theoretical knowledge:
Boating theory, sailing theory, law, meteorology, safety, ropes and knots,...

Completion

The basic course ends with the practical and theoretical examination for the basic sailing licence. The holder of this licence is qualified to sail dinghies.
The BFA Binnen confirms that the practical and theoretical examination for the BFA Binnen has been passed. The inland navigation licence authorises its holder to independently operate sailing yachts in the inland navigation area.

Scope and prices

Adapt the course to your personal learning pace. Take enough time to achieve your learning goals. No stress, just individualised course design with guaranteed success. On average, you can expect a total of seven course days. Applies to weekly and weekend courses and special dates.

Take along

There is no such thing as bad weather - only the wrong clothes!
What you should have with you:

Comfortable and sporty clothing,
Spare clothes,
Shoes with non-slip soles that can get wet (old trainers, sneakers,... - flip flops are not suitable),
Rainwear (if available),
sun protection
2 passport photos

The price

All Inclusive Package: € 770,- This price includes both courses (basic course and BFA inland course), the basic licence script and the book for the BFA inland course. The course fee includes boat hire during the course, lifejacket and oilskins.

All Inclusive Package Plus: € 885,- In addition to the above-mentioned contents, boat hire is included from completion of the basic course until the end of the season.

Additional costs - optional:

Theory examination fee: € 15

Practical examination fee: € 20,-

Issue fee (since 8 October 2012): € 30 (the issue takes approx. 6 weeks) - we will apply to the ÖSV for the issue of the licence for you, you do not have to worry about it

BFA-Binnen App Learnautik: € 20,- for our guests (instead of € 25,-) - please request by mail
Goggle strap: € 8.- (if required), € 10.- (swimmable)

Start of the season: Monday, 27 April to Thursday, 30 April (Friday not a course day)

Bank holidays: Friday, 1 May to Sunday, 3 May

Ascension Day: Thursday, 14 May to Sunday, 17 May (Friday not a course day)
Whitsun course: Saturday, 23 May to Monday, 25 May
Corpus Christi: Thursday, 4 June to Sunday, 7 June (Friday not a course day)

Weekend course from 13 June 2026 ongoing

Course times: 3 freely selectable weekend days (Saturdays and/or Sundays)
09:30 - 12:30 and 14:00 - 17:00

Weekly course

from 6 July 2026 every week during the summer holidays up to and including 4 September 2026
Course times: Monday to Thursday
09:30 - 12:30 and 14:00 - 16:00 (Friday free practice followed by exam)

Minimum number of participants 4 persons, otherwise the course times will be shortened
